Continuous Condition: Currents Picked Their Way Through Time in Whispers
2008, 13:17
One of three videos that make up the installation Continuous Condition, this piece is presented closest to the ground, six inches off of the gallery floor and consists of a single clip of video, approximately 30 seconds in duration, of a flowing movement over late-summer vegetation carpeting a forest floor, which is re-worked into four ‘movements’ of varying length, each having a distinctive signature. The original clip is first presented in real-time and then sound and image are reworked to create various rhythms, with repetitions, superimpositions, changes of pacing and direction/orientation, which result in a certain degree of abstraction. The square is intended do away with top, bottom and sides, allowing viewing from all sides.
